One of the most serene and beautiful gems of the island. Megalochori is a traditional little village that will steal your heart with its unique aesthetics. Here, everything seems to have leapt out of a painting, while respect to tradition demands everywhere absolute silence.
A small maze of alleys, fitting no more than one person at a time, alongside stairs that crawl up, almost vertically, to small half landings. There are doors lined up, bridges connecting houses, arches, domes - all built with volcanic stone.
A rectangular tower in the northern side of the village, built during the time the Venetians ruled the island. Tradition wants it that the tower was constructed by monks and that it was used as a safe place for the Monastery’s treasures. From here, you will marvel at the panoramic view of the village.
Maybe the most captivating beach on the island, Vlychada will give you the sense of being on a... trip to the moon. Long and covered with black, thick sand and crystal-clear waters that deepen suddenly - almost on your second step - while the majestic, tall, white rocks circling it bestow it with a lunar visage. In the surrounding area, you will also find small taverns with delicious, traditional nibbles.
The winder stands right above the Athinios port, with a view of the magical Caldera of Santorini. It was unusually built, moving downwards. You will have the chance to walk and discover the history and tradition, as well as the wine production techniques, and taste some of the most exceptional wines of our islands.
